The San Antonio Highland Games will feature a wide variety of Celtic music this year playing on three stages throughout the weekend.  Musicians booked for our event are listed below and a schedule can be printed here.  Please note that the schedule is subject to change.

NeedfireNeedfire - Blending soaring bagpipes, reeling Celtic fiddles, & tribal didgeridoo with modern rock guitars, bass, and drums, Needfire takes traditional Celtic melodies into a modern rock context with original lyrics and hard-hitting performances. Since 2005 these Texas-based Celt-rockers have headlined and performed at some of North America's largest Celtic, arts, and international festivals. Songs from their first three CD releases have been aired on radio stations and Celtic music programs throughout the U.S. and Europe. Currently the band is on tour in support of their 4th and newest CD "Chasing Orion" performing at festivals coast to coast.

clandestinesmClandestine - Clandestine was well-known and well-loved from 1996 to 2003 for their particular brand of Texas Celtic music. They were regulars at the Texas Scottish Festival and the North Texas Irish Festival for many years and had full houses at McGonigel's Mucky Duck in Houston, the Cactus Cafe in Austin and Poor David's Pub in Dallas. The band toured the US extensively and had successful stints in Canada and France before breaking up in February 2003. Now Clandestine has re-formed with percussionist and singer Emily Dugas, fiddler Gregory McQueen, piper EJ Jones and a new member, Al Cofrin. Al adds his cittern, voice, and another set of bagpipes to the mix. Al and EJ are joining Emily on vocals, with many songs now set in three-part harmony. Most of the group's blasting tune sets remain the same, complemented by some new ones in similar style.

Lonestar_StoutLonestar Stout - Lonestar Stout takes a fresh look at the traditional sounds of Irish, Scottish and American folk-roots music. Veteran Celtic performer, Jed Marum teams up with button accordion master, Hugh Morrison and friends to bring a mix of original and traditional music to the stage – with powerful vocals, superlative musicianship and an easy humor. They perform outstanding arrangements of Celtic music's best loved songs and they perform a number of powerful originals in the Celtic style. From driving, up-beat tunes to beautiful airs and narrative songs this high energy, entertaining band are delighting festival and concert audiences around the US.

Abby_Green

Abby Green - Backed by energetic rhythms on octave mandolin, Abby shares her rich soaring voice in Irish Gaelic and in English.  As a native Texan, her love of Irish songs and tunes has been a true journey of discovery.  She enjoys unlocking the treasures of beautiful music often hidden behind the veil of a language strange to our English speaking eyes and ears.  Since 2004, Abby has been performing Medieval and Irish music at festivals and concert venues nationwide.  With the release of her first solo Irish CD, Éíníní, in 2008, she has become a growing voice on the Irish music scene.

Sallys_GardenSally's Garden - Sally’s Garden is a trio of John Wiesen (Guitar and Vocals), Sally Wiesen (Fiddle and Vocals) and Megan Achterhof (Vocals, Ocarina, Percussion) who perform acoustic based Celtic music as well as original compositions in the traditional style.  John is a songwriter with over 40 songs and tunes to his credit and is an accomplished singer and guitarist. His Scots-Irish heritage and interest in geneaology has provided inspiration for his original songs and tunes. From haunting airs to rousing pub songs to acapella harmonies, Sally's Garden brings you an exciting and enchanting blend of  Celtic musical magic.

Rebehah_PassmoreRebekah Passmore - Award winner in both Celtic and classical harp competitions, Rebekah Passmore is sought out as an ardent performer noted for her ethereal arrangements, spicy touch, and captivating musicality. Educated throughout North American and Europe with a BM and MM in harp performance, Rebekah performs on a variety of harps not only with international symphony orchestras but also for leading Renaissance and Celtic festivals. Her effervescent spirit and passion for fusing ancient melodies with alluring harmonies transports audiences to the Realm of Harp unrivaled by any other.

drambeautiessmDram Beauties - Beautiful harmonies and imaginative arrangements of classic Scottish and Celtic songs are the hallmarks of The DramBeauties. The "old sangs"...the ones that grandmothers taught their granddaughters about The Isle of Skye, Bonnie Prince Charlie and other interesting characters and legendary places are the songs The DramBeauties love to sing. They take these much loved and much sung songs and make them their own. Due in large part to the extensive choral background of each member, their voices blend together beautifully.

Robert_DoyleRobert Doyle - Robert is a patriotic Irish American musician who sings Irish ballads and rebel songs.  Robert has love and respect for his two halves, Ireland and the United States. He gained his love and respect of Ireland through the his Irish grandmother when he was a child, and has dedicated much of his musical talent to preserving the history and folklore of Ireland through the songs and stories of Ireland's past. As an American Robert has spent 15 years serving the American military forces in the volunteer components, currently serving in the United States the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In the tradition of the Irish, Robert has written and produced his own songs that tell the story of American military life and American patriotism.

andrew_hushAndrew Hush - Andrew was born and bred in Falkirk, Scotland but now lives in San Antonio. As a tribute to the man recently voted as “The Greatest Scot” of all time, Andrew sings and recites the poetry of, the one and only, Robert Burns.
