Meet our Judge and Piper

Judge - Tracy Walton - Birmingham, Michigan

Tracey Walton started Highland lessons at the age of five with Robert and Evelyn Clark, and continued with Jill (Sweppy) Hodgins after the Clarks moved back to Scotland. She enjoyed a long competitive career, dancing throughout the United States and Ontario, and represented the Midwest Region at many USIR’s. Tracey has been teaching for over 25 years and her students have been successful at the regional and national level. Several of her students have passed their professional exams and are sharing the love of Highland Dance with the next generation.

Piper - Daniel Carr - Ontario, Canada

Daniel Carr began dancing at the age of three with the Sheila Milne School of Dance in Owen Sound, Ontario. Daniel received world class training in highland dance from Mrs. Milne as well as ballet, modern, jazz, tap and musical theater from top instructors from all over the world. Some highlights of his Highland Dancing career included winning the Ontario, Canadian and the 2010 Adult World championships. Daniel is now the director of dancing at the College of Piping in Summerside, PEI, while conducting workshops throughout North America and Scotland.

Aside from dancing, Daniel studied bagpipes under Ed Neigh of Waterloo, Ontario, and competes in the professional grade solo piping events. Daniel is a well known dance piper playing for highland dancing events throughout Canada, US, and Scotland. He has also been selected to pipe for the 2018 US National Championships. In 2011, Daniel also started playing pipes and dancing in a Celtic band called the Reel Celts along with Nonie Crete, Eugene Rea and other talented musicians.
